Specializing in outpatient manual medicine and osteopathic techniques for a variety of patient populations.

Worked with Therabill on-line cloud based integrated billing and scheduling and documentation system; provided feedback on design and created documentation templates (comprehensive evaluation and intervention notes to meet Medicare requirements for electronic medical record) for practice use. Same templates successfully sold in on-line store.

2004-2006:  Staff Physical Therapist Gentiva Home Health Services-Farmington CT

2003-2004:  Director Of Rehabilitation, Harborside Healthcare- Arden House- Hamden CT
Responsible for PPS for all rehab patients in 360 bed SNF.  Oversaw daily operations, clinical programs, and staff supervision for 15 direct reports across all therapies.   Worked with admissions department and increased percentage of Rehab Ultra and Very High categories and Medicare Part B revenue during tenure.  Staff efficiency and productivity regularly exceeded targets.   Implemented discharge planning meeting with PA / MD oversight.  Implemented prioritization scheduling (weekend and daily). Sought appropriate job factor analysis for Tech positions supporting administrative duties and implemented payroll excel based timesheet with accrual formulas to systemize process.

Responsible for all team meetings, MD follow-up and case coordination, utilization review and trending, payment and denial follow-up, participated in managed care contract analysis.  Write-offs limited to less than 1% of total revenue for FY 2001.

1992-2000:  Outpatient Program Manager Hospital for Special Care
Managed the operational aspects of a 2.2. Million-dollar business with volume of over 20,000 visits per year and included medicine, physiatry, pulmonology, psychology, ophthalmology, occupational medicine, orthotics and prosthetics, nursing, dental, and rehabilitation therapy services.  In charge of 25 direct reports. Maintained small caseload of patients specially referred from MDs and staff therapists throughout term.

Responsibilities included day-to-day management, troubleshooting, budgeting, regulatory compliance, recruitment and retention, personnel management, revenue production, contract negotiations, program development and the implementation of policy.  Projects included product research and implementation of admission discharge scheduling and billing software at HSC as Beta site, contract management of off site acute care therapy department, organization of community based transportation services, interview, selection and contracting of orthotics and prosthetic vendor, development of an outcomes measurement system, and participation in the design, planning and start up/ grand opening of a state of the art Aquatic Resource Center.  Participated in Special Care for Kids.
Oversaw operational aspects of Work Center Industrial Rehabilitation Program, ancillary services included Work Site Evaluations, Job Function Descriptions, Functional Capacity Evaluations, Work Simulation.
Demonstrated success as evidenced by repeated CARF and JCAHO accreditations with commendation, consistently positive patient outcomes/ >95% satisfaction, staff retention, realization of productivity targets, zero lost charges, and operations within budget.  Achieved cost savings fiscal year 2001 of over $130,000 in employee health costs with the selection of a new carrier, the re-audit of policy and class descriptions, and via new policy implementation the progressive decrease in injury frequency and severity totals leading to a reduction in NCCI mod ratings and overall premiums.


Presented:  “The Application of a Functional Movement Evaluation to Determine Risk Categories for Shoulder Subluxation in the Hemiplegic Patient” at the 5th Annual Geriatric Conference in Boston Massachusetts on May 6th 1998 and at the Connecticut Chapter of the APTA Annual Conference November 1999.  Abstract available upon request.


1985-1992:  Senior Physical Therapist  Hospital for Special Care

Worked closely with neurologist Dr. Marc Kawalick regional Parkinson’s Disease expert in unique Parkinson’s Diagnostic Day Program, the first of its kind purposefully established to provide a sustained period of trained clinical evaluation to meet a need to more accurately diagnose patients with Parkinson’s Disease versus Parkinsonism or Parkinsonian Syndromes (e.g. Tardive Dyskinesia, encephalopathies).  Participated as Lead Therapist, developed and applied appropriate assessment tools, participated in differential diagnosis/patient assessments, team meetings and overall clinic operation.

Clinical resource to staff therapists, successful with complex / intransigent case referrals.

Spearheaded the development and implementation of a study and protocol using electrical stimulation as an orthotic substitute for the treatment of the hemiplegic shoulder.
